3) What is expected to happen is when one opens the attached document https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/45174/+attachment/11438/+files/spaces.txt > Ctrl+H > in the "Search for:" text box put a space > immediately click button Replace All, all the spaces are removed.

4) What happens instead is gedit hangs indefinitely. Originally reproduced in gedit 2.12.1.
