GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 740375
Nautilus infobar for personal file sharing is ambigous
Last modified: 2015-08-03 17:46:31 UTC
Right now, the info bar reads: Sharing [ Preferences ] May be shared over the network It's very unclear what this is referring to. What may be shared over the network? Something like the following would be much clearer: "Turn on Personal File Sharing to share the contents of this folder over the network." The button label could also be changed to "Sharing Settings".
Adding to the 3.16 target list, since this bug is quite confusing, and could affect the initial experience. It's important to clearly describe features like this.
There are actually a number of different strings we may show depending on circumstances: "May be used to share or receive files" "May be shared over the network or Bluetooth" "May be shared over the network" "May be used to receive files over Bluetooth"
and since we are going into string freeze now, dropping from target list
Fixed in master for GNOME 3.18 following the recommendations in comment 0.
Thanks Bastien!
