When the sidebar is enabled selecting text by mouse is impossible because bringing the mouse close to col 1 and clicking causes it to want to resize the sidebar instead. Selecting text from col 1 is only possible by using the cursor and keyboard and not by mouse.

gedit has the same problem, but thanks for the bug report.

As a workaround, show the line numbers.
