Description EMR_Gnome 2014-07-09 17:45:07 UTC
This only happens in mail. My calendar, tasks, memos synchronizes just fine. My plain old IMAP account works just fine. I can obviously get on the internet and do whatever else.

I started receiving this error after I removed my account and tried to re-add it. (I was getting calendar problems and deleted my ".cache" folder.) I have tried everything to clear up my evolution settings and I still get this error.

I have removed the account, and set it up again to no avail.

I have done the following: killall -9 evolution-alarm-notify evolution-source-registry evolution-calendar-factory evolution-addressbook-factory

I have removed the following directories (I am running KDE): rm -rf .cache/ .config/evolution/ .gnome* .gconf/ .local/share/evolution/

Rebooted. Nothing fixes that error: "You must be working online to complete this operation".

I have no idea how to fix this.
Comment 1 EMR_Gnome 2014-07-09 17:57:17 UTC
I created a new user on my system.

I started to set up Evolution-EWS 3.12.2.

Got same error:
Failed to query server for a list of supported authentication mechanisms.
You must be working online to complete this operation

For some reason, Evolution-EWS doesn't believe that I am online. (IMAP and local mail works fine).
Comment 2 EMR_Gnome 2014-07-09 22:25:01 UTC
I have confirmed that this happens with 3.12.3 as well. I am going to try 3.13.x
Comment 3 EMR_Gnome 2014-07-09 23:24:40 UTC
I have just tried 3.13.3, and the problem no longer exists. I don't quite know the difference between the two versions that would cause/fix that issue.

I am effected by this bug as well. I'm running self compiled Evolution from master, compiled few days ago.

EWS account works. IMAP account does not work, it gives me error message "You must be working online to complete this operation". The Imap server is running on localhost and is accessible by Thunderbird. (* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE IDLE STARTTLS AUTH=PLAIN] Dovecot (Ubuntu) ready.
)

So problem is in IMAP!

Please do not steal bugs, there was some discussion about 'localhost' recently. The EWS bug is fixed by bug 731585.
