GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 73105
CVS import error with LANG="it_IT"
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
As you may know, the local decimal separator character is a comma instead of a dot, and the thousands separator is a dot instead of a comma. When you import a CVS with gnumeric, it complies with the locale, and imports numbers written in the international standard as strings. Setting the locale back to "C" fixes the problem, but then gnumeric speaks English. So I suggest either skipping the locale settings for CVS files, or giving the option of choosing a separator for decimals and/or thousands. Thanks
Of course we may disagree on the severity of this (from major bug to enhancement) depending on which locale we are working in and how often we see csv files from significantly different locales. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 56862 ***
