GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 729572
files are copied instead of moved whan dragged from search
Last modified: 2014-05-19 17:14:14 UTC
After searching for some keywords in a window of nautilus if drag-drop one of the results to an other window that is showing a folder on the same disk the files are copied instead of moved, like the source files were on an other disk.
This looks a lot like bug 657637. I tested with both nautilus 3.12 and nautilus 3.13 with these steps: 1) Open nautilus window, navigate to folder ~/Test/A 2) Open another nautilus window, navigate to folder ~/Test/B, search for file "foo" 3) Drag file "foo" to the first window. And I got this result in both: 1) While dragging, the file over the target window, there is a tinny arrow, which indicates the drop action will be "move". 2) After dropping, the file in still shown in the search window (despite being in a different folder), giving the illusion that the file was not moved but copied. 3) Then, if I refresh the search window, the file is no longer there, which means it was actually moved. Do you see the same or different things? In particular, while dragging, do you see an arrow near the cursor? Or is it a plus sign? If you refresh the search view (using the "F5" key) is the file still there?
Created attachment 275954 [details] i have a plus sign while dropping also both the files remain after hitting F5. I am doing this between two folder of the same disk (NTFS).
Thanks for the reply, and sorry for the belated follow-up. With this information, I'm assuming this is the same bug as decribed in bug 657637. Could you please answer the question in bug 657637 comment 3? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 657637 ***
