Description Asif Ali Rizvan 2014-04-19 02:48:59 UTC
Currently to work with gnome-shell we have to use mouse+keyboard.

We can't use only mouse or only keyboard to work in gnome shell, either in GDM or in overview.

Please consider making Gnome-Shell keyboard friendly,

1. Tab to switch to dash/search/top-bar/system-menu (different elements of gnome shell) and
2. Arrow keys to navigate/highlight the items in the selected dash/overview/system-menu/search, etc.

We have been used to using Tab and Arrow keys and Enter/Spacebar key for file-managers and other software which switch focus on tab and and arrow key to navigate.

Using Tab and arrow keys for navigation makes it very easy and natural for seasoned and new computer users alike. Learning curve is very short.

Shortcuts are great but not everyone knows and remember them. They add to the learning curve.

Right now, I don't remember the "shortcuts" to activate the system-menu or date/time menu... So using mouse for basic tasks becomes a condition for the workflow.

Please consider full keyboard navigation in gnome-shell and gnome apps. Thanks.
