GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 727300
2.6.x is slow compared to 2.4.x
Last modified: 2018-06-29 23:28:54 UTC
I've run the 2.4 a lot and just recently switched to 2.6.2. (Win7 64 bit) The UI is very unresponsive. 1. Expanding accunts with sub-accounts has a considerable delay of up to 1 sec before the UI responds. 2. Swithing from an account register tab to the "Accounts" tab is equally slow. 3. The menus ("File", "Edit" and so on) takes a lot of time to display, and sometimes fails to display altogether. I work quite a lot in gnucash and this will get unbearable fast, I need to switch back to 2.4.
Is this really different from Bug 722903 - Poor performance of account hierarchy, budgets, reconcile window,... ?
I don't know.
Some people have reported that removing the .gtkrc-2.0 file from your home directory fixes the slowness as well. More details can be found in bug 726754. Can you try that ?
I've tried that, it made no difference.
Last option is to open the "Select Theme" tool and choose a different font. Does that make a difference ?
I've tried that too, and it is just as sluggish.
I'm afraid I'm out of options then. You may want to go back to 2.4 as you suggest yourself. As I see nothing in this report that differentiates it from bug 722903 I'll mark it as a duplicate. I'm sorry there isn't more we can do for you right now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 722903 ***
