There's some issues with the Shell calendar displaying appointments at all - https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=726109 - but I think I see a separate bug.

Even when I do see events in the Shell calendar (the one that pops down when you click the date in the panel), in the date grid, the days when you have appointments aren't shown in bold, as they're supposed to be. (They were in 3.10 and earlier). All days, both with and without appointments, are shown in normal weight text.
