Description Sergey 2014-03-14 05:47:35 UTC
I use Gentoo GNU/Linux build of dev-libs/libxml2-2.9.1-r1 to validate fb2 (a kind of xml) ebook files.

Last issues showed incompleteness of performed check.
Check at least existance of objects, referred by internal links (in case os fb2-files they are images, footnotes and comments) is the necessary part of validity check, but now (in version 2.9.1-r1) it's missed.

Example (file contains three image links, but no one binary object):
$ xmllint --schema /usr/lib64/libreoffice/share/extensions/OOoFBTools/fb2-schema/FictionBook.xsd hocart_criteii_otsenki_svidetelstv.fb2 > /dev/null
hocart_criteii_otsenki_svidetelstv.fb2 validates
xmllint utility says it's valid, that is clearly not correct.

Originally issue was reported downstream (I prefer to use xmlstarlet shell interface to libxml2), the example issue file could be cownloaded from that ticket: http://sourceforge.net/p/xmlstar/bugs/106/

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libxml2/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
