GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 72576
font changes are not applied immediately
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Since all capplets are instance apply, it seems odd that the font capplet has an apply button. Doesn't seem to work either, but thats a different bug. Using the ximian daily snapshot.
We need to figure out how long changing fonts will take in GTK2. Will font changes propogate through a style setting or something? (or will the user have to restart apps to see the change?). If changes don't propogate, we should include a warning to that effect, and then try to get this fixed for 2.2.
OK, right now font changes only appear after "Apply" is clicked, and a new app is started. This is no good :-/

Seth: Are you going to ask owen about this or should I cc: him?
According to Owen this is both possible, "Set the 'Gtk/FontName' style property" and, he thought Zaphod was using this approach, but said "Could be broke, could be that Zaphod never actually implemented the XSETTING".

It's fixed but the gtk+ patch is still pending. I imagine it will be in the 2.0.1 release scheduled for sometime within a week or two.
On Solaris beta3 no font changes are applied - the gnome2-settings daemon keeps crashing.
GSD - is fixed - marking as verified fixed.

GSD not crashing but Font changes are not being applied - re-opening bug. Will investigate further in conjunction with theme changes bug #73585 and update with more info.

Is this possibly related to bug 73585, Jacob?
there is no longer an apply button. if font changes aren't happening on solaris, this is the same as bug 73585. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 73585 ***
