GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 72276
GDM could offer a "Reboot to Windows" option in the shutdown menu
Last modified: 2006-01-12 23:37:38 UTC
Package: gdm Severity: enhancement Version: 2.2.5.4-2 Synopsis: GDM could offer a "Reboot to Windows" option in the shutdown menu Bugzilla-Product: gdm Bugzilla-Component: general Description: In the System->Reboot menu, GDM could check lilo.conf and see the available targets, and then offer options for rebooting into each of the listed targets (by first running 'lilo -R <target>' and then doing the reboot). This would allow people that dual-boot to easily jump back into Windows. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2002-02-22 14:18 ------- Reassigning to the default owner of the component, jirka@5z.com.
A possible nice feature -- integration with lilo... Rebooting into windows is not a priority task, but easily rebooting into another version of linux kernel or FreeBSD would be nice :) However, it is quite non-general. What if you are using other boot manager, like GRUB?
AFAIK KDM manges to pull it off even with grub installed
Having the ability to define a "Reboot to Windows" mode is a good example of how being able to define "custom system menu commands" would be useful. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 71238 ***
