GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 717326
missing hi-res and symbolic app icons
Last modified: 2016-05-28 17:27:58 UTC
---- Reported by shotwell-maint@gnome.bugs 2011-03-18 12:28:00 -0700 ---- Original Redmine bug id: 3379 Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/3379 Searchable id: yorba-bug-3379 Original author: William Jon McCann Original description: Hi folks. It seems like shotwell is missing a high resolution version of the application icon. GNOME 3 displays hires icons by default so it would be great if we could add one. The GNOME artists are happy to help out. ---- Additional Comments From shotwell-maint@gnome.bugs 2012-03-29 17:06:00 -0700 ---- ### History #### #1 Updated by William Jon McCann over 2 years ago Here's a refreshed set including the hires from the wonderfully talented icon designers Jakub Steiner and Lapo Calamandrei: http://jimmac.musichall.cz/stuff/shotwell.zip They said any license you choose is fine. FYI: other GNOME icons use LGPLv3 /CC-BY-SA these days. Thank you for considering. #### #2 Updated by Adam Dingle over 2 years ago * **Target version** set to _0.10_ * **Priority** set to _High_ Thanks for the icons. It's too late to consider these for 0.9, but we can consider for 0.9.1 or 0.10. #### #3 Updated by William Jon McCann over 2 years ago Cool. Any idea yet when those are scheduled to be released? #### #4 Updated by Adam Dingle over 2 years ago 0.9 will appear this week. After each major release, we typically do one or more minor releases containing translation updates and bug fixes, so 0.9.1 could appear in the next few weeks. 0.10 will appear some time this summer, probably in June. #### #5 Updated by Lucas Beeler over 2 years ago * **Assignee** changed from _Anonymous_ to _Lucas Beeler_ #### #6 Updated by Lucas Beeler over 2 years ago * **Target version** changed from _0.10_ to _0.11_ We don't have a high-resolution version of the current Shotwell icon available, and changing Shotwell branding by introducing a new icon design is too big a change at this late date for the 0.10 release. Dropping the milestone on this ticket back to 0.11. Hopefully we can get either a 256×256 PNG or, better yet, the original EPS vector artwork from Kari between now and when 0.11 ships and fix this for 0.11. #### #7 Updated by Lucas Beeler over 2 years ago * **Description** updated (diff) * **Target version** deleted (<strike>_0.11_</strike>) #### #8 Updated by Lucas Beeler about 2 years ago * **Target version** set to _0.12_ Hi-res icons are a big part of GNOME 3. It's time to get this done. #### #9 Updated by Jim Nelson about 2 years ago * **Description** updated (diff) Lucas, please contact Kari about getting the hi-res icon from her. #### #10 Updated by Lucas Beeler about 2 years ago I emailed Kari this afternoon asking for the original EPS or AI vector artwork, so we can rasterize the Shotwell icon/logo at whatever size we need. #### #11 Updated by Adam Dingle about 2 years ago * **Assignee** deleted (<strike>_Lucas Beeler_</strike>) #### #12 Updated by Adam Dingle over 1 year ago * **Target version** deleted (<strike>_0.12_</strike>) #### #13 Updated by Eric Gregory over 1 year ago * **Subject** changed from _missing hires app icon_ to _missing hi-res app icon_ --- Bug imported by chaz@yorba.org 2013-11-25 21:51 UTC --- This bug was previously known as _bug_ 3379 at http://redmine.yorba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3379 Unknown Component Using default product and component set in Parameters Unknown version " in product shotwell. Created attachment 302477 [details] Icons from Fedora Here are the icons we use downstream in Fedora, including the new symbolic icon that's needed for GNOME 3.16. (It looks like we've been deleting your icons for a few years now. :)
Would be good to get this merged; it's a bit silly that years later, only Fedora currently has these nice icons.
Oh wow. Missed that in the scrub yesterday.
