Failed attempt to connect to bluetooth headset under openSUSE 13.1

I'm not sure if this is a gnome-bluetooth issue, but you have to start somewhere I guess. Pls help decide where the issue is most appropriately addressed.

I'm using openSUSE 13.1. Upgraded in the last few days from 12.3, where bluetooth was working mostly correctly with a few bugs that did not materially interfere with bluetooth operations. The upgrade to 13.1 has a major effect in that now all headsets in my collection can pair correctly but then immediately disconnect. Headsets appear in gnome-bluetooth but never make it to pulseaudio.

The Belkin adapter is recognized correctly. I don't have devices other than headsets to experiment with.

This used to happen with one device only, a Samsung WEP475. This could be corrected by issuing a "hciconfig hci0 sspmode 0" command, after which it would connect. Now that does not work.

I upgraded my bluez to 5.11, since on install from 13.1 the hcidump would not install from repo due to dependency issue. It may be a mistake to install bluez 5.11 but it did make correctly and gives me an hcidump.

The attachment is the output from running bluetoothd in debug mode, and attempting to connect a headset.
