Original Redmine bug id: 6588
Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6588
Searchable id: yorba-bug-6588
Original author: John Kim
Original description:

It's a hassle to scroll to the bottom to access the horizontal scrollbar.
Geary can flawlessly go scroll vertically up or down. On this case, I'm using
a Thinkpad X220, which includes a touchpad and a point stick control embedded
on the keyboard. On, for instance, an HTML message, I cannot scroll left or
right to see the contents by swiping from left to right on the touchpad. That
also applies to the point stick control, which I execute by holding the middle
mouse button and pointing the stick control to the right.

Related issues:
related to geary - 6159: Can't see entire embedded image if too wide (Open)
related to geary - Feature #7662: Full-window mode (Open)

This might be a WebKit problem. Does it work with Chrome / Chromium?

I think that horizontal scrollbar should stick to the bottom of current view in the message pane.

It would help also a keyboard shortcut, like hold Shift and mouse scrolling (as in Evince) while you hover the message pane, in order to avoid any clicking.
Comment 3 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 13:24:34 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/geary/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
