GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 712808
activity screen doesn't display workspaces on secondary screen
Last modified: 2013-11-21 13:52:50 UTC
It is possible using gnome-tweak-tools to set "Workspaces only on primary display" to off in the Workspaces section. When doing so, the primary and secondary screen (when two screens are connected) act as a giant desktop. In that case, I would expect the activity screen to display the list of workspaces on the right of the screen, just as on he primary display. Else, it's confusing. For example, I can rearrange windows on the primary screen across workspaces (by dragging them to the workspace I want them on), but it's not possible on the secondary screen, as I don't see the workspace list. So, when this option is off, the workspace list should be displayed on the secondary screen.

This suggests that you can switch workspaces on each monitor independently (e.g. first workspace on monitor 1, third on monitor 2). The alternative suggestions that keeps popping up is showing all monitors in the existing workspace switcher, but that does not quite work for all monitor configurations either (vertically stacked monitors, L-shape layout etc.). So basically, this is still blocking on a good design ... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 652580 ***
