GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 711325
Some JPEG images are rendered incorrectly or not at all
Last modified: 2016-12-03 15:08:41 UTC
I got some pictures from multiple people and some of them do not render correctly or not at all (the exact behavior seems random, and changes after restarting eog). Using `jhead`, I found that the broken pictures all come from a Panasonic DMC-TZ18, or DMC-TZ5, while the ones from a DMC-TZ10 seem to work OK. I'm attaching an archive with three images, one from each camera. In gimp and shotwell, all three render nicely.
As the attachment was too big and I did not want to alter the images, I've uploaded the archive here: http://mindzoo.de/files/eog-rendering-bug.tar.gz
Hmm, this could be related to bug 656224. Can you tell us which graphics card you have and which driver is being used for it?
This is on a lenovo ThinkPad X220 using integrated Intel graphics (Intel Core i5-2520M). According to lspci, it is using the i915 kernel driver.
Is your Xorg driver (xorg-x11-drv-intel) 2.21.15? This one seems to cause some problems with eog lately. See bug 656224 and bug 710789.
