if you use the single window mode and add the Brushes/Patterns/Gradient tabs as one Box below the toolbox a scaling issue appears.
Basically with that configuration you can only make the toolbox bigger but not smaller. So at some point you can't see the image you're editing anymore, because the toolbox/BPG sidebar takes up the whole space.
