Description Adam Dingle 2013-09-20 01:31:54 UTC
The former binary gnome-disk-utility is now called gnome-disks. Given that, I think we should change the name of its GNOME project (i.e. its name in Bugzilla and git) from gnome-disk-utility to gnome-disks.

Hi, I'm a open source enthusiast and I'm totally new to this community, I went through the information pages provided for newbies. I would like to know weather this bug can be fixed or not as I'm bit confused due to the UNCONFIRMED tag see here. Can someone please help me with this one?

Perhaps renaming Gnome Storage is more appropriate because it covers the various types of storage devices that exist today.

I think it makes sense to stick to Disks for a while now, but don't have much against renaming it from gnome-disks-utility to -disks as development name. A good timing would be the next infrastructure move.

Yet one could argue that the term utility makes sense because there is not only gnome-disks in the repo but also gnome-disk-image-mounter.

@Kai I think I got confused a bit. I didn't mean to change the development name, instead I mean to change the name that is displayed to the user. Something similar to what happens with epiphany/Web.

I remembered that it had been mentioned before and I found it on the Disks design website in the "discussion" section (not updated since 2013)
