GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 707616
adding or removing external screen, mouse speed changes (or resets)
Last modified: 2015-06-30 18:58:33 UTC
When I add another screen to my laptop, and use both (by default), mouse (in my case touchpad) speed changes, and it is really bad experience because you miss things, when I go to system settings and mouse settings all speed settings are at minimum. I'm using gnome-settings-daemon-3.9.91.1-1.fc20.x86_64
ok, small update, I tested this again, first I set my touchpad speed, and it "doesn't" change in system settings (displays speed I set before), but speed is changed and when I add additional monitor it is a lot faster, and I think when I remove extra monitor it returns to "normal".
This is still happening on 3.10.x in f20 (with all updates), It is hard to tell, but looks like only touchpad is affected, I have touchpad + trackpoint on the laptop + tested external mouse. Trackpoint and external mouse doesn't change its speed, but touchpad does. I don't know how it works, if it is intended behavior for synaptics touchpad, gnome or some other component we can close this? (I'll try testing it on newer release 3.13.xx (f21 pre-release))
This is a bug in Xorg, nothing that GNOME can do about it. I'm afraid that I cannot find the upstream bug report though. Peter, is there an upstream bug report on bugs.fd.o?
yup, filed it now: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83114
