GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 704721
CSS Progress Spinner Improvements
Last modified: 2014-01-23 10:23:15 UTC
Created attachment 249851 [details] screenshots There are quite a few issues with the current GTK+ CSS progress spinner: * Inconsistency of size - every usage seems to vary slightly. * It doesn’t look good at large sizes - the dots look too big. * In terms of style it looks a bit busy. Jakub’s prefered approach is to use a spinner in this size: http://jimmac.fedorapeople.org/gnome3/spinner/ This should be available in a series of preset sizes similar to how we do icons: https://raw.github.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/master/theming/experiments/spinner.png We need to be able to change the color.

Jakub has pointed out that the spinner shouldn't be allowed to get all that big - he suggested a maximum size of 32x32px. In the mockup I've suggested three sizes for spinners: * 16x16 * 32x32 * 48x48 This might need further discussion.
The current GtkSpinner code limits the spinner size to 32x32
(In reply to comment #3) > The current GtkSpinner code limits the spinner size to 32x32 Ah ha! Very good. That actually resolves most of the issues behind this bug report.
I'm going to close this, since the worst issues from the bug report have been fixed. We can use a different bug if we want to use a different style for the spinner.
