If a bookmark for a specific page exists, then one tried to add it again, it is possible to "unify" it with the existing bookmark. If the new bookmark is then cancelled, this deletes the existing bookmark as well.

Existing bookmarks should not be actually affected by the new bookmark dialog until the new bookmark is added.

I think this isn't possible with the new UI.
