GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 702158
Inconsistent behavior when disabling stealth mode
Last modified: 2021-06-09 16:08:59 UTC
User can notice that enabling stealth mode will disable the "Display full name in top bar" and "Display full name in lock screen", but when done viceversa, disabling stealth mode will not enable those options back on. As a example, enabling airplane mode in connman will disable Bluetooth and WIFI and disabling it will re-enable both options Also second issue is that if all are off : "Display full name in top bar" and "Display full name in lock screen" and "Stealth mode", under privacy window the "Name & Visibility" will show visible and only shows hidden when "Stealth mode" is ON. Steps : 1. Boot System 2. Go to Settings - privacy 3. Click on Name & visibility 4. Enable stealth mode observe "Display full name in top bar" and "Display full name in lock screen" are disabled automatically 5. Disable stealth mode observe "Display full name in top bar" and "Display full name in lock screen" are not enabled automatically 6. Enable "Stealth mode" and press close 7. Observe Name&Visibility reads "Hidden" 8. Disable "Stealth mode", observe "Display full name in top bar" and "Display full name in lock screen" are also disabled 9. Press close 10. Observe Name&Visibility reads "Visible" but "Display full name in top bar" and "Display full name in lock screen" are disabled so it's not visible Expected outcome Name & visibility is user friendly Actual outcome Name & visibility is not user friendly
Bug not present in Gnome 3.10 since the "name and visibility" menu does no exist anymore (tested on Fedora 20).
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new bug report at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
