GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 700390
i cannot listen to music
Last modified: 2013-05-15 19:36:21 UTC
when i try to play any kind of media file like mp3 i return an error Internal Gstreamer error: pad problem
What application? What version? What distro? What version?
Aplication: Rhythmbox Version:2.96 Distro Ubuntu Version 12.04. THANKS
Note that Rhythmbox uses Gstreamer for decoding and encoding audio: if your problem is related to playback or encoding (transfer to a portable device), see if you can reproduce it in another Gstreamer-based application, such as Totem or Banshee. Rhythmbox can produce debugging output which may be helpful for tracking down behavior problems. Run rhythmbox -d from the command line and attempt to reproduce the problem. You can also turn on debugging for specific components, e.g. rhythmbox -d podcast
This ubuntu version is using the old and now-unmaintained GStreamer 0.10 version. I think this bug is fixed in newer GStreamer versions. Please file a bug in ubuntu's launchpad tracker. It probably happens because you are missing an mp3 decoder plugin. Perhaps install the gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 package, or gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse/universe/whatever.
i tried to install gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 package but it was in his newer version already. the same with gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly Then i tried Tim-Philipp Müller solution but i dont know what should i look for after rhythmbox -d.
Feel free to ask on http://ubuntuforums.org/ or file a report under https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/ - as written before, we don't provide support anymore for such old versions in GNOME Bugzilla.
