GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 699579
use Shift+Ctrl+Z as shortcut for Redo
Last modified: 2013-05-03 18:48:22 UTC
Currently Gnumeric uses Ctrl+Y as its keyboard shortcut for Redo. I think this should be Shift+Ctrl+Z to follow interface guidelines and for compatibility with other GNOME apps such as gedit.
A bit of googling suggests the existance of an underground war over precisely this issue. But since Ctrl-Shift-Z doesn't sound like a particularly hot piece of short-cut space we might be able to have both work.
Rather than using two key combinations for the same command, I thinb kit would make much more sense to address the requests to have additional keyboard shortcuts for commands that don't have any. See for example bug #594010 and bug #676836.
...which again comes down to making this configurable. But in the meantime I don't mind putting C-S-Z in.
Then for the "mean time" we should probably put those other short cuts in too.
This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release. Thank you for your bug report. I'm not going to act on the others until we can edit things. There is no argument about cross-application consistency for those.
