Each time you enter the "Mouse & Touchpad" applet in control center - this is control-center 3.8.1-2 on Fedora 19 - the "Pointer speed" slider resets to its default position (near the center of the slider, the value in dconf of org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad appears to be 6). Changes to the slider take effect, and persist after leaving the applet, and if you just go back into the applet and do nothing, the slider is displayed wrongly but the dconf value is not changed. But if you just touch the slider, the value jumps to 6.

Obviously, the slider should not be centered each time you enter the applet, but should reflect whatever the current value of motion-acceleration is.
