GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 696380
curtain falls slower
Last modified: 2013-03-26 08:38:49 UTC
I'm guessing the increase of the transition time was a workaround to the choppiness introduced with the desaturate and blur filters, but the curtain fell much faster in 3.6 than 3.8. We should keep the transition time of 3.6.
Apparently there was a designer OK for the change from 0.3 to 0.8 some weeks ago, see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=691964#c35 and following comments. 0.3 always felt better to me... Also, making it faster would help to paper over the fact that we're now abruptly hiding the windows when the shield animation starts. This was caused by https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-shell/commit/?id=b328fd7aed4455b6b7378480baa2d604806f0bea and doesn't look like there's an easy and quick fix.
now that we have the blur and desaturation removed, should we consider this ?
Created attachment 239800 [details] [review] screenShield: Go back to a shorter animation when locking manually Increasing it was mostly to paper over jerkiness which shouldn't be a problem anymore since we removed the desaturate and blur effects.
Review of attachment 239800 [details] [review]: Sure, if designers + r-t agree ...
I'll give my +1 here, go get a second one on the list...
