I am using gNome3 with Ubuntu 12.10 64 Bit core operation system and have few problem for orgnize my desktop icon. I linked some photo file to this ticket please firstly see that file. organize_without_aligined.png http://ertanerbek.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/organize_without_aligined.png When I select organize option from rigt button menu then nautilus organize my ICON at Desktop but create some empty area. aligned_before_organize.png http://ertanerbek.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/aligned_before_organize.png When I select aligned option from right button menu then nautilus aligned mu desktop icon but icon range wrong. aligned_after_organize.png http://ertanerbek.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/aligned_after_organize.png When I select organize option after aligned option then nautilus organize my Desktop icon but range too big. My four numbered problem occure when I use dual monitor with extended mode. It is mean if I use dual monitor with extend mode and my second monitor resolution bigger than my first screen and if I select organize option from right click menu then nautilus send my some icon to out of workspace ( desktop ). Unity and gNome windows manager have same problem.
nautilus is responsible for handling the desktop icons.
Starting with version 3.28, nautilus will not handle the "files on desktop background" feature. For better alternatives, read this blog post https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2017/12/21/nautilus-desktop-plans/
