It would be useful for Totem to remember position in playlist (and of course the position of that video), a la the handling for opening videos.

For example:

I open a playlist, and stop watching (close totem) at 4:10 into the 4th playlist item. Upon reopening the playlist (with totem), playback would resume at 4:10 in the 4th playlist item.
