Description Ray Holme 2013-01-13 14:29:34 UTC
I created a new group contact list last week. I see nothing unique EXCEPT that not even the first member of the group shows in the list of contacts when I display contacts in list form - other groups do have the first member showing.

If I select this group to do anything, evolution just dies. I cannot delete it or edit it. I can select it to mail to, but I have no idea who the mail will go to.

Running fedora 16 and hence 3.2.3 of evolution.

I would like to delete this group name and see if I can get it right, but have no way to get at it. I also don't know how to capture the error for you folks to help you find the problem.

Hi,

Crashes? Freezes?

IN case it crashes: Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it. Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/StackTraces and http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Dies == crashes == needs to be restarted

consistently - anytime I click on the group

my personal notes are woven into the stacktrace - sorry

I am saving the file as it appears I may not have "SAVED" it before I attached it. - BUT it looks OK here to me - hope it is right - apologies

Again this system will be updated early in Feb to Fedora 18 - not sure what will reproduce after that

Thanks.
Stacktrace is the same as bug 684175 which was fixed in Evolution-Data-Server version 3.6.3. In case that upgrading your distribution to 3.6 is not an option you could ask your distribution to try to backport the patch.

Can you delete that contact list after temporarily disabling "View > Preview > Contact Preview"?
Comment 7 Ray Holme 2013-01-23 15:45:08 UTC
OK, I just finished doing a better job using gdb) generate-core-file

But you don't need this so, I will delete it.

In answer to your question. NO
I disable contacts-preview, clicked on it (left tried, right tried)

bye, bye evolution - no option to delete.

I will be upgrading to a newer evolution with a newer fedora in a week

Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Interesting that when I come up in the debugger, it wants to delete a tasks directory and cannot. I don't use evolution for task management so perhaps I should just rudely delete (rm -rf) and if so which:

find . -name tasks 2> /dev/null
./.gconf/apps/evolution/calendar/tasks
./.gconf/apps/evolution/tasks
./.local/share/evolution/tasks
./.config/evolution/tasks
./.evolution/tasks
./.evolution/tasks/tasks
