Description Tom Shannon 2002-01-19 15:23:50 UTC
Package: galeon
Severity: major
Version: 1.0.2
Synopsis: crash browsing remotely to espn site
Bugzilla-Product: galeon
Bugzilla-Component: Mozilla interaction

Description:
This bug causes galeon to crash when executed remotely on a local
display. It does not cause the local X server (XFree) to crash. It
does not cause linux on either end to crash. The crash does not take
place when galeon is executed locally on the local display. Only when
it is executed remotely from the remote computer on the local display.
The remote site is a Dell server running dual 1.2 GHz processors. It
runs at my work on a T1 network. The local X display is on a Dell
Inspiron 7500 laptop running at my home. I use a cable modem. The
crash also takes place when the laptop is hooked up to the T1 network on
my desk next to the server (with galeon still executed remotely from the
server). Both machines run RH7.1

Simply type in "http://espn.go.com" in the location box and hit enter.
The crash dialog comes up. The espn site isn't the only one that does
this but it is a very good example. Its very consistent and repeatable.
The other sites tend to be "complicated" with things like Flash or Java
running. Many of them have advertisements which I suspect cause the
crash but because the adds rotate and you rarely get the same one twice
in a row, the crashes tend to be inconsistent. The espn site always
crashes.
