Description Reda Lazri 2013-01-02 13:41:53 UTC
This bug is the child of {{bugzilla|688208}} which discussed various issues in the lockscreen.

(copy & paste)

#4- The way the notifications are stacked up is just broken:
- It pushes the clock to the top.
- Creates a huge box in the middle with some useless, redundant text. The
useful text is the one the shows up after you unlock.
- And most importantly, it covers the ONLY clue of getting out.

Thanks for the bug, Reda. Do you fancy doing a hi-res mockup for lock screen notifications?
Comment 5 Reda Lazri 2013-01-02 14:43:53 UTC
Yes, I would love to. Github-IRC as usual or should I keep this updated and host somewhere else?

hey, so here it is: http://db.tt/ztXUGOcE

it's a live link, please feel free to keep it for updates.

# About the mockup:

It's a pretty simple translation from the wireframe. I used custom-made icons for consistency's sake (unless symbolic app icons could be overlaid like that, which would be extraordinary...and highly unlikely to happen :).

The Rhythmbox/audio player idea isn't complete.

Also, I'm assuming that the two-states lockscreen idea is accepted, that's why I removed the padlock from the top left and with it the need for a panel bg.

Lastly, the icons' size might get a tweak depending on the full size.

Also, do you plan to let the user choose to read those messages from the lockscreen if privacy isn't an issue?

The basic idea is finished. Please take a look at the album instead: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zwgn1myzdtdfp05/97Yw_8b6PK/Shell

I've added a way to reveal the media controls. Please note that there are actually tens of possibilities but they may not be compatible with the GNOME UX.

I also added a *full* view to get an idea about the sizes and proportions.

I think this bug is obsoleted by the lock screen notifications redesign. See: https://live.gnome.org/GnomeOS/Design/Whiteboards/ScreenLock/310Redesign

Let us know if there's anything that you think could be improved there, Reda. :)
