GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 690307
WINE apps can 'steal' the cursor and keyboard and prevent unlocking
Last modified: 2012-12-16 21:38:33 UTC
This became apparent to me when playing The Sims 3 in WINE, and the only details I can provide are those of what I experienced. I was playing the game and left it for a little, causing the screen to auto-lock as it should. However, when I tried to unlock it, the cursor was still the Sims 3 cursor, and would not 'drag up' the lock screen 'cover' (with the clock on). Likewise, the keyboard could not affect the lock screen either - pressing z or enter or any other key didn't slide it up as it usually does. I believe that those inputs were going straight into The Sims 3. Luckily I could log out with CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE, but more casual users will probably not have this enabled.
*and will be stuck on a login screen which they cannot interact with or unlock.
