GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 68693
panel crashes upon first login
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: gnome-core Severity: normal Version: 1.4.0.4 Synopsis: panel crashes upon first login Bugzilla-Product: gnome-core Bugzilla-Component: panel Description: I don't know why.. when I first boot up and log in, the panel consistently crashes. This is on a brand new installation of RedHat 7.2. If I hit control-alt-backspace to drop out of X and then log right back in, it works ok. The behavior is the same whether I use a graphical login or login at the console and then use startx. This only happens on my laptop.. not on my desktop PC which was set up identically. I have re-installed RedHat 4 times on the laptop and it's unchanged. My guess is that it has something to do with my hardware, or some service isn't started properly when I first start X that is working ok the 2nd time.
