Both screens should blank quite quickly after the screen (less than 10 seconds) is locked.

I'm not sure that this is a dupe. Bug 661017 is about the backlight; this one is about blanking.

Blanking is lack of backlight :)
We do both now (put the backlight as low as possible, and blank the screen).
