Hi!
In empathy-3.5.91 (@f18) I can't select someone's message with a mouse anymore, cursor changes to a caret, but nothing gets selected.

Which chat theme are you using? Does changing it help (preferences dialog)?

Tried Boxes, Classic, Planet Gnome - the same result.

Actually this is probably bug #684194 Please re-open if you can reproduce with 3.5.92.
