Description John Herre 2012-09-07 22:34:07 UTC
When using the new on-canvas text tool for text editing, the top of tall characters may be clipped when changing the text to bold or italic. This happens in 2.8.2 on Windows XP, but not in 2.8.0. As far as I can tell, it only happens for fonts whose font files don't define the bold or italic characters.

This has happened with several different fonts; three that I remember are CCSez, Clementine, and Twelve Ton Goldfish.

To recreate the bug, select the text tool and create a text layer. Set the font to one of the ones I mentioned and set the size to something large (64 px is good). Type some text with tall characters (I seem to remember exclamation points getting clipped with every font I tried), highlight the text, then click the bold A on the tool to make the highlighted text bold. The tops of some of the characters should now be clipped off.
