GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 680412
save as gif fails
Last modified: 2012-07-22 21:35:30 UTC
opened animated gif file 'mypic.gif' file - ok - views, automates - ok save as 'mynewpic.gif' - says: " File format is unknown or unsupported Image Viewer could not determine a supported writeable file format based on the filename. Please try a different file extension like .png or .jpg. " in this day and age? surely gentlemen, it should work...
ps: also already raised as a ubutu launchpad bug - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/614936 - but they seem to think its one of yours.
I took a look into the Ubuntu report and there's actually two different use cases involved here: 1. Saving a file as a GIF image, for example a modified GIF or a from another format. This would be bug 539138, which appears unlikely to be fixed. 2. Saving an unmodified GIF file to another name, aka. "Save a Copy" being bug 545578. Marking this a duplicate to the latter one to not make noise on an already closed and dead bug. --- Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 545578 ***
