Description Em Ail 2012-07-16 11:17:51 UTC
When using the option to save the current settings as default (Edit -> Save current settings as default) at 100% document size, Evince saves the wrong size % (somewhere around 80%).

I'm getting something close to this.

I open a pdf file (500 pages) with index in the left panel. I choose "adapt to the width" (Ajuster à la largeur de la page in french). I tried ctrl+t or click on the "remember current settings menu item" (Se souvenir des réglages actuels in french). But when i click in the index to go to another chapter of my document. The size is still in Ideal size (Taille idéale in french).

It's a way to say to evince to keep the adapt to the width for the whole document ?

Renaud, I guess the PDF links have the Fit destination, which forces us to do what you describe. We are discussing, in another bug (which I don't remember its number right now), how to override this.

Renaud,

Please check the comments in the duplicated bug I am pointing out. It seems to be the same.

Oops, I misread Renaud comment as the report. Re-opening this bug.

I think the problem in this particular bug is that evince always open a new document to the same window size: 600x600. See: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=617547#c3
Comment 7 Greg Huber 2013-10-22 18:23:59 UTC
I can confirm this behavior in version 3.8.3.
I previously changed my default settings to "Fit Page". When I open a new document I get the entire first page as expected. If I scroll up or down with the mouse the page size remains constant. If, however I jump to a different page using the left index or right scroll bar, the page size changes back to "Best Fit". This requires constant correcting. I don't remember this behaviour in the previous release.
BTW, I'm using the released version of Evince in Fedora 19 running Xfce.
