GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 679597
Size of export file incorrect
Last modified: 2012-07-10 19:10:18 UTC
I am trying the following steps in trying to save a jpg image. File >> Export >> (name of the file.JPG) >> Export >> check on Show Preview in Image Window >> Change the slider in Quality >> Export No matter the actual size of the image Gimp is always displaying the file size as 1.3 GB which is incorrect. I have tried this with multiple images and in each and every case the file size is shown as 1.3 GB. The quality slider moved left or right does not have any change in the size of the file. Please note that the actual size of the file saved is never 1.3 GB I work with lots of images and sometimes it is important to restrict the size of the file below a specified level. I am not able to check the actual size of the file saved in Gimp 2.8.0 Till recently I was using Gimp 2.6 and i never faced this issue and it was very easy to work with Gimp for resizing files.

Hi Thanks for your comments. I looked into bug 669818 but couldn't locate the solution to it. I understand that I may have to copy file-jpeg.exe and replace with the file from the bin directory. However please let me know from where do i copy the correct version of the file. Please help
You don't copy anything around, you have to wait until the problem is fixed in glib.
