Description Andreas Kloeckner 2012-07-02 20:19:58 UTC
Hi there,

I couldn't find where to customize the new <Super>+{Left,Right} keyboard shortcuts. I like what they do, but I'd like that bound to different keys. I checked

- the 'shortcuts' settings window
- org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings in dconf
- apps.metacity in gconf

It's in gnome-control-center for me. Windows => View split on left / View split on right.

What distribution are you using?

Please note that bugzilla is not a support forum.

This is the recommended way of changing those keybindings, under 'Windows', you should find 'View split on left' and 'View split on right' (unless you are using Ubuntu, in which case the necessary changes to System Settings were reverted)

gsettings get org.gnome.mutter.keybindings toggle-tiled-left
gsettings get org.gnome.mutter.keybindings toggle-tiled-right

It's not there for me, unless I'm very blind.

Do you have a /usr/share/gnome-control-center/keybindings/50-mutter-windows.xml ? If not, this is a distribution bug. Contact Debian for support.

This file should be supplied by mutter, not gnome-control-center. See:

  http://git.gnome.org/browse/mutter/tree/src/50-mutter-windows.xml.in

Thanks for the notice. Won’t that conflict with the same file already shipped by metacity?

It has mutter in the name.
