With the default Raleigh theme some applications, like Gedit and Disk Utility, display a black background (should be gray) for some widgets (see attatched screenshot) which makes the black text impossible to read.

I use Ubuntu 12.04 with the Blackbox window manager and my GTK settings look like this:

$ cat ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
[Settings]
gtk-theme-name = Default
gtk-icon-theme-name = hicolor
