Description schnadig 2012-05-23 10:31:03 UTC
Swiss banking institutes allow to make payments by file transfer. This is called EPO (electronic payment order).
It would be very convenient if GNUcash would be able to generate such files.
The format is described in this document: https://www.postfinance.ch/content/dam/pf/de/doc/consult/manual/dlserv/epo_man_en.pdf

Alternatively an import of such files could be implemented.

From above manual: Only EPOs
in ISO 20022 XML format (pain.001) will be processed as of 2018

Has AqBanking something for it?
That would probably be the better place because more projects would benefit.

Over night I remembered a few things:

EPO means "Electronic payment order via file transfer", which is a system, which uses several file formats.

Chapter 1.6 has a list of definitions. Most of them are well known SWIFT MTxxx formats. They come in 2 flavours:
Traditional TXT and more recent XML, which are normed in ISO 20022. At least some of the TXT formats are already usable in Gnucash.

As recently was told on the german mailing list
https://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-de/2017-August/009995.html
if you ask the support they will offer you monthly a MT940.tar.gz file for download.

Because there are several active swiss users on the german mailing list
https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-de
, who know more than me about PostFinance's service it might be the appropriate place to discuss, which formats are required to have which benefits.
Probably somebody there has already a script to convert PostFinance's proprietary standard to a well known format.

Chapter 5 of the manual might be of interest, too.

As said, some users already use Cash management – Bank-to-Customer Debit/Credit Notification via MT940.

Payment Initiation seems still missing.

After we know, what we really need, we can create a separate bug for each missing format, blocking this bug.

Users who are subscribers to http://lists.aqbanking.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/aqbanking-user might check their archive for which parts aqbanking has already modules or is planning.

Reassign version to 2.4.x so that individual 2.4 versions can be retired.
