Description W. Martin Borgert 2012-05-11 22:52:40 UTC
GNOME3 features a nice search dialogue in the upper right corner of the screen. One can easily search applications to run, so I'm happy with it. I have, however, a privacy concern, because the search function uses by default e.g. Wikipedia or Google to search whatever I entered. This would be OK, if there would be a dialogue to confirm, such as "couldn't find locally what you are looking for, may I try Wikipedia/Google/whatever?" Maybe there are other ideas, how to solve it, but in any case the default should be not to use network services unexpectedly.

Actually, the Web search is going to be removed, which kind of fixes the problem.

Indeed, after reading the comments there, this sounds like the best solution. Thanks for pointing me to the correct bug report!
