GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 675690
Status messages with URLs cannot be clicked
Last modified: 2013-08-24 17:23:09 UTC
Created attachment 213690 [details] a screenshot My good friend William added a web address to a website which contains some inexplicable man with a guitar flying across the screen on a pop tart to his status message on the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol. I personally don't understand the reference or the song being played. I opened up the contact information in GNOME Contacts when clicking Contact → Information in Empathy. The status message was there and it had the web address to said website, and even included a picture of a cat which was a nice touch. What was annoying was that I couldn't click on the web address to open the web site in my browser of choice as it just appears as plain text. The old Empathy contact information dialog showed status messages and you could click links in them. I think it even allowed you to select and copy the entire message which was cute if there was a great quote you wanted to steal to insert into your academic papers and gain international stardom.
We can't have you not gain international stardom! THE HORROR!
It is worse now, 3.8.3 even not show any status message in it.
Closing since gnome-contacts isn't designed to show a contact status so far. We might think of how do this properly in the future. Closing it for now.
