GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 674519
Cannot print A3 format
Last modified: 2012-05-28 11:09:38 UTC
I have a Brother MFC-J6910DW printer. I does not print in A3 format from GIMP (A4 works fine). I set it up as follows: 1. Page setup: format A3 2. Print, Basic: A3 size 3. Print, Advanced: Scale to A3 What happens is a print on A3 paper with A4 print size. I have tied to downscale a huge image downto A3 and I have upscaled a small image (100*100 px) to A3. The result is the same. A3 paper with A4 printout. I can print A3 from all my other applications (like OpenOffice) I have printed out huge images (more that 8000 px height) from GIMP via Windows 7 Photo Viewer on A3 paper in A3 format via PNG file format. But it would be nice to print directly from GIMP - which is a fantastic program which is very robust and fairly easy to use.
Hi Jens, Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Please try the unstable GIMP development version 2.8.0-rc1 (or later) and report back if the problem still exists, as there will not be any more fixes to the stable GIMP version 2.6.x. Unofficial Windows builds for 2.8.0-rc1 are available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-win/files/GIMP%20%2B%20GTK%2B%20%28development%20rel.%29/
Thanks for the feedback. I have tested this problem on version 2.8.0-RC1. There is nothing new regarding A3-print compared to 2.6.11. The problem still persist.
Could this be the "can't set any paper format except a4 and letter" problem of the gtk+ printing on Windows?
My qualifications are insufficient to decide this, but I can say that when I select A3 in the print menu it does not remember A3 like most other applications will, but is back to A4 at next print.
This may be bug #505123
