GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 674460
display context menu on secondary click in left column
Last modified: 2014-04-01 13:04:18 UTC
Currently GNOME Contacts displays a context menu when the user right clicks on the the contact's name in the main contact area. It took me a while to figure this out. I think a context menu should also be displayed when I right click on a contact in the left column. That's where I instinctively tried to find a menu, and I think it's a natural place for a menu to be displayed.
Well, the one on the right is more of a hidden menu than a context menu really. I mean, it makes sense to have "delete" on the context menu on the items in the list on the left, but maybe not "Add/Remove Linked Contacts...". Allan?
Yeah I agree with this one, and I've added to the UX roadmap. Patches would be welcome!
Just thought I might throw my two cents in... What about [Plus|Minus] buttons in the left context menu... this would be congruent with other gnome 3 apps ui?

To clarify - the context menu is no longer displayed in the contact pane (on the right). It should be shown in the left hand list though. Items to consider for the context menu: * Edit * Linked Contacts * Export * Delete

Actually, this conflicts with the pattern we are using in the other apps. Right click should trigger the selection mode - see bug 703201.
