The xine-lib backend's errors were much better than what we manage to have now:

Bug 671285 shows the error you would get when rsindvd gets a read error.
Bug 630483 shows that we hide a part of the HTTP error.

    Using the original error messages from the xine-lib backend,
    get back some user-friendliness and hack around GStreamer error
    reporting limitations.
