GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 672606
[Empathy 3.3.92] Cannot create google talk account from scratch.
Last modified: 2012-03-22 10:51:27 UTC
With Empathay 3.3.92 - on a freshly created profile - I cannot create a google talk account. Empathy 3.3.92 Telepathy-gabble 0.15.4 My OS : Archlinux 64 bits + gnome-unstable repository.
Seems to happen only from scratch. I created a profile with gnome 3.2, upgrade to gnome 3.3.92, and Empathy shows me account created before.
You mean that empathy-accounts doesn't allow you to create a new Gtalk account? Or you can't create one using GNOME Online Accounts (in the control center)? I don't see any reason why empathy-accounts wouldn't allow you to create a GTalk account if telepathy-gabble is installed. Can you create XMPP accounts? Can you create a new one then?
Frederic, be sure you actually have telepathy-gabble installed. In arch, we don't have any providers by default just to allow our users to opt out of what they want.

Well, looks like it was not really a bug. Because now, after logging out, restart and logging in again, I can create every single account I want to :( > > (In reply to comment #1) > > Seems to happen only from scratch. I installed all backends. Well, don't understand what happened. Sorry for spamming bugzilla, not being able to reproduce it anymore :(
That's because of https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46763 You installed telepathy connection managers but mission-control didn't know about it until you restarted your session.
