I'm trying to build gnome-3.3.4 in a garnome environment.   My current build is using gnome-settings-daemon 3.3.3.1 (although that will hopefully change this week).   

The daemon doesn't start when I run startx and this leads to lots of stuff being broken.   The problem seems to be that gnome-settings-daemon.desktop (here in $prefix/etc/xdg/autostart) has

EXEC=/scratch/jhbuild/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon

which I suppose is fine if you're using jhbuild in /scratch/jhbuild, but I'm not.   Manually putting the correct path fixes the problem.
